Our Goal: The goal of the Covington County Water Authority is and has always been to provide our citizens with a safe and dependable supply of drinking water.
Water Supply: The Authority’s water source is groundwater drawn from six (6) wells. Four (4) wells draw from the Clayton Limestone aquifer, one (1) well draws from the Lisbon aquifer. Each water system must complete a Source Water Assessment Program (SWAP). The SWAP is comprised of four distinct activities: delineation of the source of water assessment area, contaminant inventory, susceptibility analysis and public awareness. The Covington County Water authority has completed each required component of the source water assessment. A copy of the SWAP is available for review in our office. Chlorine is added as a disinfectant to each well. The Authority is pleased to report that our drinking water is safe and meets federal and state requirements. The Authority routinely monitors for constituents in your drinking water according to Federal and State laws. If you have questions about the report or questions concerning your water system, please contact James R. Ward at 428-2656.
Board Meetings: Regular meetings of the Covington County Water Authority are held on the second Tuesday of each month at 9:00 a.m. in the Covington County Administration Building. The public is encouraged to attend.
